A pair of co-workers today hit my weakeness: They displayed their Republicanism. While I do not necessarily identify as Democrat, my liberal leanings and belief in personal freedoms nudges me closer to Dem side than Repub side. I find Republicans to be the biggest of hypocrites and I often lump them with many Christians in this sense.
- Pro-Life vs. Pro-War - On one hand, all life is precious and you should never play God and abort a child, especially since they cannot defend themselves. On the other hand, anyone foreign can die beneath our boots in the name of God-given American freedom. Yeehaw!
-The Democratic Presidential Candidate vs. The Republican Candidate - Let's face it: the Democratic President candidate is basically the next antichrist. His policies will bring the apocalypse we've all been dreading for thousands of years. The seas will turn to blood and plagues of locusts will eat our wheat crop. The Republican candidate, however, has shit that smells of the finest flowers in France (which will be renamed Freedom land after the Republican president invades those worthless Frenchies and beats down anyone that dare speak against us). This candidate could be caught on tape gang-raping an underage goat while sniffing cocaine and waterboarding foreigners, but that doesn't matter. Boys will just be boys. Everyone knows that the Dems are the real danger to America.
-Smaller Government Spending vs WAR! - Yes, the Republican party's platform is to spend less and balance the budget... except in times of war. So, pinch a penny, save a penny, but when America needs to kick ass (which apparently is whenever the President's 20-sided dice rolls 3 or greather), to hell with the budget, it's time for a-spendin'! At least the money is used to support our troops and keep them alive, right? Well.. no.. When given the opportunity to spend a little more on effective bullet-stopping equipment, the Republicans said "nah!" But.. then.. the money would go to veterans for all they've done, right? ... right?... Notice the sounds of crickets chirping? Veterans have it worse than most people in terms of healthcare. Hell, they're even told that some serious afflictions (like PTSD) don't exist! What the hell are we spending our $500 billion on then??
Look, I know that peace is anti-patriotic, that wanting soldiers to come home and live with their families is anti-patriotic, that wanting people in the White House that would end the war and start saving our economy is anti-patriotic... but good fuck, I think it may just be crazy enough to work! What political party had a president that got us out of the Great Depression? Oh, wait, it was the Democrats! Hell, we even went to a World War and got back in less time than the Iraq War we're in now. In your face, Republicans!
